9/11 Panel Chair: Iraq-al Qaeda contacts were there

by on June 17th, 2004

The panel’s Republican chairman says there were “contacts” between Saddam Hussein’s government and the militant group. Tom Kean says some contacts “were shadowy — but they were there.”

Bush insists, “There was a relationship.” But, he says his administration has never claimed Iraq and al-Qaida together “orchestrated” 9/11.
