John Allen Muhammad was sentenced to death today for his role in the DC sniper shootings. But the AP calls his venture into Virginia a mistake, and not for the conventional reasons.
One of the biggest mistakes of convicted sniper John Allen Muhammad might have been extending his killing spree to Virginia, the only state in which death sentences are carried out more often than not.
I’d say his biggest mistake was pursuing the role of a serial sniper; I guess the AP just doesn’t see it that way. And why they would pick this–of all stories–to harp about a Virginia death penalty moratorium is beyond me. He knows he did it, the jury knows he did it–hell, the entire United States knows he did it.
