Iran accepts aid but shuns relations

by on December 30th, 2003

Following a magnitude 6.6 earthquake that has reportedly killed 30,000 in Iran, the United States offered aid to the shaken nation–as well we should. They took it. But the thanks we get is not much of anything at all.

After Secretary of State Colin Powell’s statement that aid could be the beginning of an international dialogue between the “axis of evil” nation and the U.S., Iranian President Mohammad Khatami made it clear that America is useful only for her money.

Great. Take our money and cut off the lines of communication. It sounds like a bad date.
