Lost jobs, rising deficits and missing WMDs

I’d like to thank Dustin for inviting me to participate in this new group blog. I understand I may be one of just a few contributors representing the liberal viewpoint on most issues. Fortunately, as a Texas Democrat I am used to being outnumbered in the political arena.

Texas Democrats are in a sad state these days. The party has been shut out in every statewide race during the last few elections. They have lost their majorities in the Texas Legislature and with Tom Delay’s successful mid-decade re-redistricting scheme passing muster with the Supreme Court, Democrats are likely to lose half a dozen congressional seats in the next election.

But despite all of these setbacks, I can’t help but feel that it is the Republicans who should be most on the defensive these days. After all, they are the ones who have to answer for the millions of lost jobs, the record breaking deficits and a costly war to save the world from phantom weapons of mass destruction.

So in the immortal words of George W. I say “Bring ‘em on!!”
