Oct. 16 (Bloomberg) — John Kerry, the four-term senator from Massachusetts, trailed President George W. Bush by 6 percentage points, losing ground following the debates, a nationwide Newsweek poll showed.

Bush was backed by 50 percent of 880 likely voters, while Kerry got the support of 44 percent, outside the margin of error of four percentage points for the Oct. 14-15 survey. Independent candidate Ralph Nader had the support of 1 percent.
