Taking a page from the Bush playbook–well, not really, since he last visited Iraq four months ago–Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld made an appearance in Iraq.
Rumsfeld began his day in Kirkuk by having breakfast with a group of soldiers who participated in recent raids in the area and with Air Force personnel who helped destroy captured Iraqi explosives.
His day was primarily focused on military operations, but it’s good to see high-level administration officials visiting with the troops to keep morale up. If only the troops over there could know just how much us lowly citizens appreciate what they’re doing, to say nothing of the Iraqi people themselves.
