California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger used his political weight in Sacramento yesterday to convince both chambers of the California legislature to vote against a license law that would have given state driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. The law was passed only a few months ago under Gray Davis’ lead.
The Assembly vote was 64-9 in favor of repeal. The Senate passed the measure 33-0 last week. Both chambers are controlled by Democrats.
That’s two good things in my book. The other? That would be Schwarzenegger’s repeal of the car tax that would have tripled California car taxes.
