U.S. Begin Operations in Fallujah

FALLUJAH, Iraq  — U.S. Marines have begun a major military operation in Fallujah, the volatile city in which four American civilians were slain in one of the more grisly displays of violence since the war began last year.

“Our concern is precise. We want to get the guys we are after. We don’t want to go in there with guns blazing,” said Lt. James Vanzant, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.
